Chinese Fine Art Class—taught in Mandarin by Artist Da Da (达达)
Chinese Art class adapts the Immersion Chinese Teaching Model, 中文浸入式教学。This class is taught in Mandarin, combining Chinese Fine art and culture.
The term “fine art” refers to an art form practised mainly for its aesthetic value and its beauty rather than its functional value. Fine art is based on drawing and design-based works such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture etc. The study of fine art will help children better to cognitive world and create something of their own.
The teaching objectives are to allow students to find out the concept of fine art in Chinese traditional art. There are many kinds of art forms belonging to Chinese traditional art。 I will introduce traditional Chinese painting to students. Traditional Chinese painting tends to express subjective emotions and the creation of artistic conception. In this case, students could create their inward emotions and world.
The method of teaching is divided into three parts. In the first stage I will introduce famous Chinese artists’ work and analyse the train of thought for composition. Through the second stage I will let students create their own paintings which connect to the fine art theory in Traditional Chinese painting. In the last stage, I will let every student share their paintings and exchange thoughts. I believe through this class, our students will learn more about how to express themselves and find out more about traditional Chinese painting.
